Hi all-- I saw my first large group of Turkey Vultures for the season on
Tuesday March 17-- about 15 over Brownsville. Today, saw a group of 9 over
Peterson Butte (about 4 miles SW of Lebanon). Today I also saw 5 Bald
Eagles of various ages on a carcass in a farm yard near Peterson Butte. On
Monday March 16, at least 7 Bald Eagles of various ages shared the air with
me during a long hang-gliding flight. Next time I fly there I must carry a
rearward-facing video camera, as it would have captured many great shots of
eagles following close behind me. On Monday at Petersons Butte I also saw
an adult Red-tailed hawk exhibit territorial behavior as it repeatedly
harassed a Bald Eagle whenever the eagle came near one particuular area low
on the butte. Steve Seibel, Corvallis
