If you were making a cell phone call on the west side of Corvallis at 7:35
am, perhaps you've heard some noise interference? Well, OK,
that's probably not possible. As I rode by the cell tower on Research Way,
I heard a loud, metallic, rapid drumming coming from the cell station. I
didn't have time to find the culprit but it was likely a flicker since the
area is the kind of open habitat flickers prefer. I'm not sure it was on
the tower itself or part of the cell station building.
Also, when I arrived downtown I heard the song of a Ruby-crowned
Kinglet! They'll be singing a month or so before they migrate. If
