[birding] duck

Hi Kaynor,
in Oregon, at least (and elsewhere in the U.S.), any Mandarin Duck in the wild is considered an escapee and therefore not officially listable.
In many parts of Europe, however, this handsome duck has established self-sustaining populations and can be counted on various countries' lists (e.g., in Germany, where I currently languish between stays in Oregon).
Listable or not, it is a spectacular bird.
Happy "ducking"
Hendrik

I think I know the answer to this already, but is
the Mandarin Duck considered an escapee as far as bird listing is
concerned?
