Hi all-- this afternoon (March 9) I spotted 12 Bald eagles of various ages
riding the winds at Peterson Butte (about 4 miles SW of Lebanon). With
lambing season on, they must not have to spend much of their day scavenging
or hunting, as they hang out just soaring and hassling each other for hours
and hours on end. Some took an interest in my little radio-controlled
glider but with some timely evasive action I stayed out of the way of the
talons. Also one was in hot pursuit of a beautiful dark-morph Rough-legged
hawk. Also some swallows (about 10) flew by but I couldn't watch them long
enough to ID to species. Steve Seibel, Corvallis
