1. the weather forcast has gotten worse - it now says 80% chance of rain and looks like rain most of the day on the coast.
2. now it also looks like rain all day in portland so that doesn't help as an alternative.
3. anyway we will go to coast and hope to see some of the kittiwakes that have been seen recently as well as everything else we can find.
4. you might bring some rain gear as it definitely looks like we we get some rain if not a lot.

1. this saturday (march 7) corvallis audubon will do a field trip to the coast to study gulls and hopefully see many other birds.
2. we will meet at Benton Center 757 NW Polk Ave at 7:30 AM to carpool. Bring Binoculars (and scope if you have 1), water, lunch & snacks. i hope to get back by 5 (530 at latest)
3. we will head for boiler bay, stop at depoe bay, little pullouts along 101, newport jetties, and behind the science center.
4. we will spend more time than normal looking at gull flocks, but will certainly look at everything.
5. the weather looks mediocre/decent - high about 50 and showers (only 30% chance of rain). so we could be lucky or not.
6. i did consider the possibility of doing portland where saty-backed gull & glaucous gulls continue to be seen, but there are no other birds to see except the gulls.
7. so join us for hopefully a good day of coastal birding.
