I vaguely remember someone posting something about Long-eared Owls at the Snag Boat Bend annex to Finley. I think it was last year. I've looked through the archives for the Mid-valley list and for Obol, but I couldn't find the post. Could anyone set me straight? I'm wondering when they were found and how.
Several years ago (Feb. 1, 2003) I flushed a Long-eared Owl while kayaking floodwaters through ash/willow/cottonwood forest along the outer reaches of Snag Boat. Since then, I've taken almost every opportunity to ride the high winter waters through there, but I haven't found another.

(By the way, our Orioles fledged and flew this last week. They make cool nests--literally: loosely but intricately woven socks that must let a lot of the wind blow through. I couldn't do such a good job with thread, grass, and poly tarp.)
