Hello Everyone,
I visited Finley Prairie Overlook this afternoon where numerous Lazuli Bunting, Western Meadowlark and swallows were easily
seen near the parking area. Then I walked to Cabell Marsh enjoying the Yellow-breasted Chat calling from one end of the dike to the other without getting a real look at it. It came up close to tease while hidden in the foliage. There was a Western Grebe, 5 American White Pelican, 2 Purple Martin, Wood Duck, Mallard, and a family of geese enjoying Cabell Marsh. And all the usual marshland expected species.
I met Kent Rodecap at Cabell and he said that there were 2 Blue-winged Teal at McFadden Marsh this day, too.
At McFadden Marsh I first heard then saw the American Bittern, Cinnamon Teal, Wood Duck, Great Egret, and Osprey. At the scrape I watched a female Yellow-headed Blackbird perched on a Reed Canary stem eating the seeds within 5 feet of my open car window. I only wished that I had brought my camera to capture the moment. The male showed himself as well.
It was an enjoyable late afternoon visit to Finley.
