I heard two RSHA before I saw them at the Crystal Lakes Sports Field in
southtown Corvallis on Wednesday. They came up out of the trees down by the
river, circled and were calling constantly. I could not get a good enough
look with my naked eye to see if they were adults or fledglings. I assumed
they were disturbed by the low flying TURKEY VULTURES. Once the vultures
dispersed, the RSHA stopped calling and went back into the trees.
Does anyone know if RSHA are breeding nearby? Molly, are they breeding out
at Finely? Should we expect them in the park?
I have not heard them all spring, and I walk my dog there ~ 20 times a
week. These could be fledglings that moved into the area.
Conversely, I see the adult COOPER'S HAWKS almost daily coming and going
from the SE end of the park.
thanks,
Trent
