[birding] Birds not dinosaurs?

There's a GT article about researchers at OSU who have studied skeletal
structures in birds and think that birds are not direct descendants from
dinosaurs.

John Ruben and Devon Quick have good reasons to think what they do. I
would be interested in hearing Ruben & Quick's argument for the fact that
some dinosaurs have feathers. Can two different classes of reptiles both
have complicated structures like feathers? Maybe? One thing for sure, many
people, including myself, think it would really cool if birds were a
subclass of dinosaurs. That doesn't make it true. Science is working on
this issue and as more evidence is found and research is done, it will be
resolved.
