[birding] About that "dew-hic" flycatcher call in late April

Hi folks,

Seeing Don Boucher's posting about the Empidonax flycatcher reminds me
of a little revelation that I had on Coffin Butte on Thursday.

Back on 29 Apr I reported hearing a plaintive "dew-hic" call from a
willow thicket at our place, that reminded me of a Dusky Flycatcher.
This Thursday, I noticed that a WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE occasionally threw in
a phrase that sounded a lot like this. I'd forgotten that they do this.

So my April 29th report should be rolled back at least to "Fluvicolinae
flycatcher sp.," though even that might be a bit bold. I still wonder if
another bird could make that sound. I do feel better getting back to
just one local Dusky Flycatcher report for this spring.

Happy birding,
Joel
