Jamie – just spent the day on Jackson-Frazier. The water is
holding steady at approx. 12 inches below the deck bottom at the channel
overlook two lefts in from the main sign.
The best sighting was a muskrat for some good long looks. Finches and yellowthroats are still singing
lustily. I think I caught a single
short phrase of a chat but did not hear anymore (to confirm it) throughout the day –
it would be the first I have encountered in that location. Robins were still carrying food but the
redwings have moved on to the post-nest phase of raising a family. One species or more of darners were spotty
throughout the extent of the boardwalk viewshed and there were numerous pairs of cardinal
meadowhawks copulating around the north tip of the cattail opening in the
center of the loop. As always one of the
finer short walks close in.
