Hi mid-valley birders,
I moved to the valley about 4 years ago and have been "lurking" on the
mid-valley list serve for over a year now. I have benefited greatly
from the discussions and bird sightings posted and enjoy all the great
photos often provided, I finally have something to "give back" to you.
I added a few snap-shots of a dark phase red-tailed hawk that I took
earlier today to my "Birds of Willamette Valley" album on Picasa.

I've been hearing about sightings of a dark hawk in the neighborhood
south of Corvallis so this might be the critter. He was on a telephone
pole along the east side of Bellfountain Road between Greenberry and
Starr Creek roads. He flew down to the fence post where I got the
photos, then flew west into an oak across Bellfountain Road. When I
last saw him he was flying north into the trees near the bridge over
Muddy Creek.
Pretty handsome bird!
