[birding] Kingfisher on Brooklane

I've started carrying my camera more and more- today it paid off. I started
to get closer to a redtail after watching two teenagers walk right by the
raptor with their dog- and he didn't move so I thought I'd move closer.
Either my white lens or my 'eye to eye' contact sent him off long before I
got close. So I drove a little further down Brooklane (having passed about
ten turkeys living up by the president of OSU's home) and spotted a bird
that looked very different from any I'd seen before- my first kingfisher! I
find their shape almost comical- they look like a little tough guy to me.

I was able to get close enough for a couple of good pictures of her too- not
bad for a 'non-birding' day, I really was just out to get a haircut! I now
take the 'back roads' into town almost all the time.

Oh, and one of the turkeys- this is a large file but I just couldn't believe
the detail in these guys-looks like armor, not feathers on these guys. And
what's with the 'tassel' that hangs from the middle front of them?

Yes, I did finally get to the barber shop before it closed!
