I also visited the "virtually birdless zone" of Marys Peak today, but one
active Pygmy-Owl < http://empids.blogspot.com/ > filled a large section of
forest with a "presence" and authority far out of proportion to his
diminutive size.  At least the Chickadees seemed to have no doubt about who
the boss was in their woods today.  When he showed up, they disappeared.
