Hello folks,
With spring migration fast upon us, perhaps it will be helpful to have
an idea as to when to expect the incoming birds.
For years, Alan McGie has compiled a phenology table for spring
migration in the Corvallis area, based on field notes as published
in /The Chat/ newsletter since 1970.
You can view the latest version of Alan's table at:
www.oregonbirds.org/phenology.html
The table is specific to the Corvallis area, but should give a good idea
of first-arrival dates for most other places in the Willamette Valley.
Coastal areas usually run a bit ahead of Corvallis, while migration east
of the Cascades runs a little later.
If anyone has developed phenology tables for other places in Oregon,
I'll be happy to add them to this web page.
Happy migration,
Joel
