[birding] Ankeny NWR

Sunday, 2-15, Ankeny NWR (near Independence, OR)
Lisa and I led the Naturalist Adventure to the covered blind at Eagle Marsh, anticipating rain. It cleared up and was gorgeous. There were fewer waterfowl but a good variety. We saw no swans and shorebirds other than Killdeer. We got good looks at Canvasbacks, Buffleheads, Ruddy Ducks, Hooded Mergansers and others. At Pintail Marsh we saw a hundred or so Ruddy Ducks. Also there was a pair of Cinnamon Teal, male & female.

The next Naturalist Adventure is on Sunday, March 15
always the 3rd Sunday of the Month
9am-noon, meet at Avery Park Rose Garden, 1210 SW Avery Park Dr.
We may visit a Corvallis Park to see the first spring wildflowers and emerging plants.
