Hello all,

a couple of observations from the past two days:

On Thursday (2-12-09) I went to Willamette Park and south on the trail along the river to where it stops near the new development. At a feeder at the trail's very end I saw the following:

Slate-colored Junco  1
Oregon Junco  sev.
Song Sparrow
Fox Sparrow
Red-breasted and White-breasted Nuthatches, Black-capped Chickadees

Also noticed an ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD hovering in front of and obviously feeding from a suet feeder. Has anyone ever observed such behavior? I had never seen them do that.

In the park along the river:

Great Blue Herons pairing up at the rookery

2 male and 3 female Common Mergansers

Yesterday (2-13-09):

Saw a MERLIN zip across our South Corvallis neighborhood .... yard bird # 51 for me.

Happy Birding

Hendrik
