I wanted to share with everyone a couple of new blogs that a new volunteer, George Gentry has started for the refuges and would like people to contribute to. George is helping us document wildlife, projects, and activities going on around each of the refuges and he then donates photos to our National Conservation Training Center in W Virginia. It is a lovely collection! I also wanted to share this to show the Great Horned Owl release we did near Finley this last week on a bird I thought for sure was a goner when I took it in last fall after it had been hit by a car on Bellfountain. (see slide show down on the right).Chintimini's dedicated volunteers/doctors did a wonderful job on repairing broken wings and a leg and providing an opportunity for this bird to fly free again! Many thanks to them, it is such a wonderful service to have in our community (and they are always in need of support)....Check out the sites and please contribute if you have refuge stories/pics to share:http://willametterefuges.blogspot.com/ (this one has the owl release slide show although the bird took off pretty quick and didn't allow for much of a photo op!)http://nationalwildliferefuges.blogspot.com/ (this one has a few different slide shows such as the Partners Program/our staff planting lupine on private land, and one on trapping and banding cacklers with radio collars... This is part of the study they are using the trucks with the big antenna for tracking them around the valley.)Enjoy,Molly~ _( '</ ) )//"Endangered species are sensitive indicators of how we are treating the planet and we should be listening carefully to their message
