The large maple that was down across the trail and the fence has been removed.  Apparently the activity there made some of the ducks very skittish and many left.
Maybe with the tree activity done things will return to normal.
Thurs (1/29) some birds noted were:

Canvasback - 14
Lesser Scaup - at least 6
Northern Shoveler - at least 3 (after over 100 earlier in January)
Ring-necked Duck - at least 2
Bufflehead - 1 female
Great Blue Heron - 1
I haven't seen the female Eurasian Wigeon since Jan 23.
Canada & Cackling Geese continue to pop in and out.
These more notable species have been seen or heard at least once a week in January:
Anna's Hummingbird
Red-breasted Sapsucker
Downy Woodpecker
Chestnut-backed Chickadee
Varied Thrush (1st noted Jan 12)
We saw a muskrat twice in January.
