Hi folks,
Real quick here, I had an excellent view of the sapsucker on the south
side of E.E. Wilson HQ in good light, and it looks to be in fully
juvenal plumage -- even on the head where I thought it was showing
brighter pattern when I saw it in the gloom the other day.
My understanding is that this makes it a strong candidate for
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. More details later. I got some photos though
probably poor (little digital camera, only 5X zoom and autofocus) so
we'll see how much they show. But everything I saw points to
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.
Happy birding,
Joel
