[birding] no Longspurs at E.E. Wilson

Hi Rich & All,

Sorry your weren't able to find the birds.

A couple of thoughts that I was going to mention yesterday but forgot
about in my posting:

1) When I flushed these birds, I was on the outbound part of my walk so
came from the other direction. Also I had Heidi (our Aussie
shepherd/border collie mix) and as usual when starting out a walk, she
was a little exuberant and romping around. That may have pushed the
birds toward that spot from the south or southwest.

2) Alternatively, the birds may have been down there for a drink of
water. Sometimes that "stream" outlet has moisture when other areas are
frozen.

I couldn't re-locate the birds myself when I looped back through there
at the end of my walk. There is a lot of similar habitat out there
(about 30 acres) and the habitat is hard to see through (though there's
room in many spots for birds to run on the ground). So maybe it was just
a matter of luck to find them in that one spot yesterday. I go through
there 3-4 times a week, and this is the first time I've flushed anything
but the usual sparrows, anywhere in that field.

Good luck if you try again -- luck might be a required part of the
equation!

Joel
