1. 4 of us went over to ankeny in search of aleutian geese today. it was a beautiful day.
2. we saw very few geese. there was 1 group of maybe 200 cackling geese but they flushed before we could scope them. we never refound them. we looked at a lot of empty fields.
3. there were some dusky geese in 3 different places.
4. the 2 overlooks had good numbers and variety of ducks including 1 EURASIAN WIGEON.
5. no swans at all.
6. decent raptors with 2 bald eagles, 2 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, and 1 PEREGRINE FALCON.
7. we looked at a sparrow flock that had white-crowned, golden-crowned, and lincoln's. there were also 2 MARSH WRENS in a ditch.
