In addition to the two Greater Yellowlegs that have been working the pond for the last two weeks, today there was a juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk. It seemed to be working the margins of the pond from overhanging ash trees. Belted Kingfisher has been at the pond daily, and Green Heron is there often. Driving by Stoneybrook Retirement on 45th, Elsie would be pleased to know that two bluebirds are watching the place. Around the back side of country club hill a Hairy Woodpecker was near the usual groups of Downey's. At the turtle pond on Brooklane, two Western Pond Turtles were sunning next to a cluster of Mallard hens. A male Woody in eclipse plumage hides in the back corner.
