Hi all,

Some of you have probably seen this either on OBOL or directly from
Nicole Nielsen-Pincus, who's coordinating the "Vaux's Happening" swift
survey in Oregon again this fall. But in case it missed you ... here it
is!

There are lots of roosts to cover, and the survey organizers up in
Washington are trying to cover a wider part of the migration, so there
are lot of opportunities for counting at swift roosts.

The Vaux's Happening home page (accessible through the link that Nicole
gives below, http://www.oregonbirds.org/vauxs_swift_survey.html) is also
a fun place to learn more about these amazingly aerial birds.

Happy birding,
Joel

Subject: New web page and Doodle calendar for swift counting

Hello Vaux's swift counters,
As the swift project grows and in effort to get organized this fall,
we've incorporated a few new tools to plan for swift counting across the
state. Thanks to Joel Geier, a new web page is up and running with a
working list of active, historic, and suspected roosts in Oregon. This
list will be udpated periodically and results will be posted after the
fall migration. You can access this through the Oregon Field
Ornithologists webpage (and in the future at the East Cascade
Bird Conservancy's webpage) with this link:
http://www.oregonbirds.org/vauxs_swift_survey.html

You'll also find there a document called Helpful Hints for Swift
Counting and a data sheet.

Additionally, you'll find a link to a Doodle calendar there- an online
calendar that allows volunteers to sign up for a slot to count swifts at
roosts that still need counters. Feel free to sign up for as few or as
many different time slots as you can commit to. We don't need more than
2 counters per roost at a time and we really would like to get Sept 12th
covered. The doodle calendar can also be reached directly by clicking
this link:

Feel free to pass this email and these webpages on to any interested
parties. Thanks again for your help.
