[birding] Swifts

Last Tuesday Jarod and I watched close to 100 swifts attempt to roost in a chimney in SE Corvallis off of Park St. I say attempted as it took them awhile to wait out the cat that was perched at the top of the chimney. It watched closely as they circled and would look down in the opening whenever one bravely dove in. Luckily, the cat moved on before too long and all the swifts quickly funneled into the chimney. Nice to see there are still a few chimneys around the neighborhood being used. When we first moved here, there was one they'd use behind our house but sadly, it was covered after our first summer here. I know there are swift "towers" in some places, has anyone ever heard of a pseudo chimney being built for swifts?
