Hi folks,

Something I forgot to mention from our camping trip in the Coast Range a
couple of weekends ago:

I had to drive home on the night of Aug 8 due to a bit of a crisis that
came up with the pets at home. When I drove back out to the Coast range
early the next morning (Aug 9), I went by way of Hwy 99W S of Corvallis,
then W on Llewellyn Rd., S on Bellfountain, and finally W on Decker Rd
(which by the way is a good way to get to Marys Peak and beyond, without
going through the congested area from SW Corvallis to Philomath).

>From the Marys River bridge on Hwy 99W in south Corvallis to the old
Inavale School at Bellfountain & Decker Rd., I counted 9 EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVES sitting on the wires, nearly outnumbering the MOURNING
DOVES along the same stretch. I didn't stop to check each one carefully
to rule out Ringed Turtle-Doves, but at this point it's probably a safe
assumption that most were EUCDs.

Happy birding,
Joel
