A Spotted Sandpiper was at Stewart Lake (HP) during lunch (noon to 1) today, 4/29. They come through yearly but often don't linger long since the habitat is marginal. It spent much of the time on the grass along the south shore, tantalizingly close to the water, but out of reach because of the curb. Still there when we left.

First mallard (well, perhaps some other heritage as well, judging by mom's plumage) ducklings noted, 2. We'll see if they survive; we've seen the usual large large-mouth bass lately.

Other recent arrivals/migrants noted:
Warbling vireo - at least 4
Wilson's warbler - 1 (first, finally!)
O-c warbler - 10
B-h cowbird

A pine siskin was noted gatherinmg nesting material from an old (starling?) nest hole.
