In regards to the reopening of the Egret boardwalk and blind, I just wanted to mention to those who plan to visit the area that there's a killdeer nesting along the drive into the parking lot. She has had a very quiet couple of weeks and will now have to adapt to new disturbances. Please be careful when driving in and try to avoid walking near the nest site. You can't miss it on your way in (we've placed some barriers between her and the road) and I'm hoping she'll stick to the nest while cars go by. These poor birds sometimes pick the most precarious of places to lay their eggs. I'm hoping they'll be hatched out in a matter of days and the little ones will soon be mobile enough to avoid traffic in and out of the parking area.
Thanks very much,
Molly~
