I waited for the bus at 14th & Jefferson on the OSU campus. I heard a
White-throated Sparrow singing. The "Old Sam Peabody" is an onomatopoetic
reference to the bird's song that only makes sense to New Englanders. Most
birders know about the "Old Sam Peabody" reference to the White-throated
Sparrow since it's mentioned in many field guides.
It goes something like this: "Old, Sam, Peabody-body-body-body"
This one may make more sense, "Pure, sweet, Canada-dada-dada-dada-dada"
