[birding] red-breasted goose

1. my post below was that our group saw the red-breasted goose saturday.
2. this bird has been seen at basket slough as well as finley each of the
last 3-4 years.
3. it has i think always been considered to be an escaped bird, although i
don't think any duck/goose owner ever claimed to be missing one.
4. now jeff gilligan (see below), who i think is on oregon bird records
committee, and who has been an authority on oregon birds for 30+ years, is
considering the possibility it might be a wild vagrant bird?
5. so you might consider checking out the geese flocks on bruce road to look
for this beautiful goose - it is fairly easy to pick out of a huge flock of
cacklers.
6. if you don't know what it looks like (it is not in any north american
books) just google images of it. even if it is never countable, it is still
fun to see.
