Hi folks,

I know there have been a few reports of ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS but
seems like not so many. Today finally brought two to our yard, first
seen as yellow streaks flying across the slope to forage in our
neighbors' big clump of Scouler's willows, which are blooming now. Later
they returned to our willows, and then I heard one singing up the ridge.

Two WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS also showed up, the first in our yard this
year.

Happy birding,
Joel

P.S. Today's historical column by Finn John, in the Local/Regional
section of the Corvallis Gazette-Times & Albany Democrat-Herald, has
some entertaining anecdotes about the namesakes of Townsend's Warbler
and Nuttall's Woodpecker. Apparently the source is a collection of
Townsend's writings that was published by OSU Press in 2003.
