[birding] Snowy Owl?

Hi, all!

My neighbor has been hearing an odd owl- from listening to various calls online, the nearest seems to be a Snowy Owl.  I'm a newbie to this area so I have no idea- are Snowy Owls ever seen aroune here?

We live on Vineyard Mountain towards the top.  About 2 feet of snowfall at our house but only about 1 foot left after the long rain the other night.
