[birding] Dark-morph Rough-legged and Kites at Finley

I was at the prairie overlook at Finley Refuge late this afternoon and saw a
dark-morph Rough-Legged hawk.  So beautiful with the light from the snow
illuminating the silvery flight feathers contrasting with the very dark body
and coverts (only the faintest hint of the carpal patches was visible.)  2
White -tailed kites were also present, way off to the SE;  then I saw one of
them flying away to the distant west a few minutes after sunset.  Several
Harriers and Red-tailed hawks were also present and a light-morph
Rough-legged hawk was perched on a utility pole alongside 99W between Finley
and Corvallis.  Steve Seibel
