[birding] Benton Co. Central Raptor Run

Today, Jan Landau and I did the central Benton Co. raptor run from Kiger
Island to Finley Rd. under cloudy skies and temperatures ranging from 43
degrees to about 50 degrees. The rain held off until just after we were
done. Here's our results:
Red-tailed Hawks - 37
American Kestrel - 24
Northern Harrier - 14
Bald Eagle - 1 adult
Rough-legged Hawk - 8
White-tailed Kite - 1
Prairie Falcon - 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1
Burrowing Owl - 1
Large raptor sp. - 2 (one was too far away, other was seen off 99W with no
place to pull over)
Also seen was 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE, along with 5 GREAT EGRETS (4 in a field off
Lakeside) and about 8 GREAT BLUE HERONS.
Total miles: 61
Total hours: 6.5 (includes walk on boardwalk to Cabell Marsh)
