Seems a little unusual to be able to drive to the top of Mary's Peak at this time of year, so i took the opportunity early yesterday morning. I wanted to see if i could get a look at the individual of the interior race of Grey-crowned Rosy-Finches described by Douglas Robinson on the 28th of Nov.
I was really windy and the conditions were not great but as i was leaving a flock of 17 Rosy Finches flew in and started feeding on the main trail to the summit approximately 300ft from the main parking lot. Sure enough the individual of the interior race was amongst the coastal birds. It's unlikely i would have noticed it if i hadn't been specifically looking. So they were still there yesterday. Beautiful birds.
Cheers
James
