After about an hour and a half of looking, Rich Hoyer and I finally found and got nice looks at the Palm Warbler in Peoria at 1:00 p.m. today, Dec. 1st. We found it in the deciduous trees and a large butterfly bush adjacent (to the south) to the tall fir that is just south of the greenhouse at the north end of Peoria. It was at least the 3rd or 4th time we looked in that area. We had heard it prior to that and we suspect that it was hanging out down towards the river (which is posted No Trespassing). Also perched in the same area was a female Sharp-shinned Hawk, which probably didn't help our efforts.
A group of birders was looking for the Pyrrhuloxia at the same time. When we talked with one of them at maybe 1230, they had not yet located it after more than a half hour of looking.
