[birding] American Pipets and Spider Gossamer

This is the time of year when the spider gossamer is noticeable.  While driving west along Bruce Road at the south edge of Finley, during the late afternoon, the sun (if it is out) highlights the millions of spider silk strands.  These strands are most visible on the tips of the new grass shoots
growing in the large fields to the south of the road.  It is interesting to think about the numbers of spiderlings it takes to produce such a beautiful effect.
 
Also in these fields, along with thousands of geese, are small flocks of American Pipets.
