paula vanderhuel, marcia cutler, nanette, and i did cabell and philomath this morning
cabell
1. about 70 DOWICHERS (assume all LONG-BILLED, some were vocal)
2. about 50 LEAST SANDPIPERS
3. maybe 10 DUNLIN
4. some GREEN-WINGED TEAL among tons of MALLARDS
5. 2 VARIED THRUSHES
6. 1 LINCOLN'S SPARROW
7. probably 200 CEDAR WAXWINGS in tree near hq - perfect view to determine there were no bohemians
8. 4 WOOD DUCKS (in pond across street from hq)
philomath
1. about 500 SHOVELERS
2. about 100 WIGEON
3. about 50 RING-NECKED DUCKS
4. about 30 LESSER SCAUP
5. 1 WESTERN GREBE (very close, definitely western)
6. 1 HORNED GREBE
7. 3 EARED GREBES
8. 1 BUFFLEHEAD (female)
9. about 50 RUDDY DUCKS
10. about 100 COOTS
11. 2 CINNAMON TEAL
and the highlight of the day
12. 1 SHORT-EARED OWL (in field on side toward bellfountain road, in the 1 grassy strip) - it flew briefly and sat in edge of grassy strip and posed for us.
